Dorcas is a humble young girl who comes from the Northern part of Kenya, Turkana county. She is raised by her mother and father. Dorcas also has one sister and one brother. The family lives in a palm thatched mud house in a communal land. They fetch water from a community hand pump whose water is saline and not enough for domestic use as it is depended upon by many households as the main source of water. Her mother is the breadwinner of the family who depends on mat weaving and plating activity. Her father also practices charcoal burning and selling as a livelihood supplementation project. However, the annual income derived from this economic activity is not enough to sustain family basic needs. Her mother therefore decided to approach the office seeking for assistance. Dorcas is enrolled in a nearby school where she likes coloring and joining dots. Her favorite game is rope skipping. Dorcas would like to become a doctor when she grows up. While at home, she helps her parents in collecting firewood and fetching water. Your support will bring a lasting change to her life and the family at large.
