Gustavo is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his parents, Jose and Elizabete, and with a brother, in a small rural village located in the interior of the state of Ceara, which is a remote region. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, rough cement flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Jose works as a day laborer in agriculture when available and his low income is far from enough to meet basic needs. Gustavo is active, cheerful and intelligent. He helps his mom by shopping for small items at a nearby grocery store. He loves playing soccer and with toy cars, and riding a bike in the company of friends his age. Gustavo is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. He attends a public school and his favorite subject is math. His big dream is to become a professional soccer player when he grows up. The family is needy and through your support Gustavo and his family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation, education and nutrition.
