Wahab is friendly boy who shares things with peers. He is middle born of the family, the family stays in a mud walled house with packed dirt floors and rusty iron sheet. They practice small scale faming to earn a living from crops like maize and beans planted seasonally but due to poor farming methods, price fluctuating, and drought, the yields are always low fetching the family a monthly average income of 20 dollars. This meagre income is not enough to cater for proper medical care, education needs as well as proper shelter for the family. The family uses an open well as their source of water shared with animals risking them to rampant waterborne illnesses. The child lacks proper clothing as he is always dressed in old ragged clothes. Though he faces such hardships, Wahab is enrolled in school for studies and likes mathematics and Science as his best subject. He enjoys playing football made of banana fibres.
