This is Perla. She comes from a humble family. The father is a farmer that earns approximately 2 USD daily. The mother takes care of the children at home. Perla has two siblings. Living on just one very low income is not easy, because it endangers the wellbeing of the children. Perla speaks Nahuatl and Spanish. She attends primary school, at an early grade. Her family doesnt have a stove and refrigerator. Her diet includes coffee, atole, milk, bread, beans, tortillas, vegetable soup, rice and some fruits. Defying adversity, Perla is thriving and weighs 20.5 kg and she is 1.22 m tall. Perla enjoys the patrons feast attending mass and watching the traditional dance performances at her community.
