Victor lives with his mother and grandparents after parents divorced. The mother is a subsistence farmer who mainly grow maize, groundnuts and sorghum. Yields in maize is always low due to infertile soils as a result the mother resorted to selling charcoal to raise money for buying of other daily necessities of life. Their annual income is about $ 350. They live in a house made from unburnt bricks and iron sheets as roof. Candles are a source of lighting and draws water from the borehole close to their home.
