Amara lives with his parents, siblings and grandmother in a remote village in the north of Sierra Leone. The family engages in farming, but still struggle to meet the needs of the family. His parents earn a yearly income of US$490 as this is earned from the sales of harvested produce from the farm in the community market. Yet this cannot afford to provide them a bag of rice and other basic necessities. This cannot elevate them from their present situation. Because the sales are not enough to meet their basic needs. The family dwells in a round hut built with mud and roofed with grass thatch. This exposes them to cold and mosquito bite, yet they cannot afford to treat themselves when they are affected with illness. This condition makes them feel as the poorest family in the village. Amara is an obedient and smart boy who loves to play football with his age mate in the village. He will be happy to attend school, expose to greater opportunities for a brighter future.
