Ida lives with both of her parents in a small village in the West Coast Region of the Gambia. The father is local farmer and grow  food crops and few cash crops on their farm land for a living. Due to an intensive hard labor with no capacity on modern farming technical skills, their harvest is very poor and can hardly bring sufficient money. Their annual per capita income is below their regions average of US$310 and their small earning are never enough to make ends meet. This situation plays a deterring role for the progress of Ida as a small girl and therefore sought support to enable her a progressive and productive future. Ida is healthy.
