It is with great pleasure that we introduce you a beautiful child named Meklit, who lives in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia.  Meklit lives with her mother and she has no sibling. Her mother is a breadwinner and she earns meager income from washing others clothes that is not sufficient enough to cover all family’s basic expenses.  She is in primary school. Her favorite game is singing song and her favorite sport is running.  After school she spends her time by playing with her age mates.  Meklit and her family lives in a small house made up of iron sheet.  They communicate in Amharic local language.  The place where child lives has health center but it lacks enough laboratory equipment and microscope.  A government school in the local community lacks science laboratory equipment, reference books, child friendly environment and well equipped clubs.  The teachers’ needs to take training on modern teaching methods, class room management, and child centered teaching.

Ending child poverty begins with Meklit. It’s easy. It’s impactful.
