Matildah is a needy but friendly and active young girl who lives in Tigwilizane community with her single mother, two brothers and one sister as her parents divorced. The family live in a small house made of locally sourced materials. Her mother is a peasant farmer who makes an annual income of approximately $300 as her crop yields are low due to lack of inputs, poor farming methods and drought resulting from climate change. Hence, it is hard for her single mother to meet all the all the familys basic needs. This motivated her mother to enroll Matildah on the ChildFund sponsorship program for support. Matildah is still attending primary school. Matildahs health is good, and despite her financial and material challenges her mother is determined to see her educated. Your support will go a long way in building a better future for Matildah and her family and community.
