Esther is a cheerful little girl who lives in Kapete community in Chongwe district of Zambia. She currently is in the care of her grandmother, because her parents divorced and are unable to take care of her. Her grandmother is seeking sponsorship because she is a subsistence maize farmer who can hardly make ends meet. The crops she grows are mainly for the family’s consumption with the little that is left over sold in order to make some money to use for basic household needs. Her annual income is not more than $300. Esther is in primary school, and her favorite subject is science. She likes playing jumping rope game with her friends.
