Claudiana is a young Brazilian girl who lives with her parents, Claudio and Valdiana, and with a brother, in a small community located in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, ceramic tile flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Water is carried from an artesian well. Claudio works as a general helper for a local butcher shop and his earnings are far from enough to meet even the most basic needs of his family. Claudiana is affectionate, cheerful and intelligent. She helps her mom by washing the dishes. She loves playing ball games and school; by the way, her wish is to be a schoolteacher when she grows up. She has a dog she is passionately fond of. Claudiana is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. She attends a local public elementary school and her favorite subject is Math. The family is needy and through your support Claudiana and her family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation, education and nutrition.
