Saloum comes from the western part of the Gambia with his parents, one brother, and a sister. His father is a seasonal farmer and he does small-scale farming during the rainy season. His mother is a housewife who helps with the daily household chores and also does vegetable gardening. Their familys combined annual income is approximately U.S. $350.00 which cannot cannot take care of the familys needs and the childs educational needs. Saloum is a healthy child who likes learning and playing football with friends. He likes learning the alphabet and doing drawings. He is presently attending a lower basic school in grade 1. Saloum needs external sponsorship that would greatly help him get a bright future.
