Martha is a calm girl who lives with both parents in the Eastern part of Uganda. Her health is good and shes the middle child in the family of four people. She has not yet started school because her parents financial capability is very frail. Martha loves singing and playing with her baby toys, enjoys eating beans and cassava and loves making jokes with people. Her parents are subsistence farmers who grow beans, sweet potatoes, ground nuts and soya beans. Besides that, they sometimes do quarry work though it gives them very little income. The family lives in a one-acre piece of land that is usually used yearly hence having low soil nutrient to support good crop yields. The type of house they live in is a grass thatched one with walls constructed with unburnt bricks having a packed dirt floor. Their earning is relatively low to cater for their needs which cannot guarantee Martha a successful future she dreams of having.
