Fiker was born in Addis Ababa. She lives with her mother and brother in a densely populated neighborhood with poor hygiene and sanitation. Fiker and her family speak the local Amharic language Her father has left them, and her mother works as a casual worker to make a living, but their annual income is not enough to afford even their most basic needs. Her mother plans to change their lives by being engaged in income generating activities like petty trade if she gets some support and encouragement. The family lives in a poorly built government owned single roomed house, and the nearby school and health centre lack basic and standard equipments. Fiker is in primary school.  She wishes to be a nurse when she grows up, in order to achieve her dream and overcome the poverty she is facing, she needs support.
