Their annual income is only $300, making it difficult to support all the children. Occasionally, her mother sells tomatoes and vegetables at a nearby market to supplement their income. Phillis sleeps on a reed mat on the floor with her younger sister and helps with meal preparation and cleanup. She attends primary school in the village, where she enjoys Mathematics and English, dreaming of becoming a doctor. Healthy and happy, she loves playing with her friends and dolls made of mud.
