Severe monsoon flooding in Sri Lanka is creating a crisis for children.
Sri Lanka is in turmoil as floods and mudslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains continue to bring widespread destruction to communities. Since early June 2024, flash floods and mudslides have killed hundreds of people and driven thousands of children and families from their homes and schools. As the flood waters collect in stagnant pools – and clean water becomes more and more difficult to access – rates of mosquito-borne, waterborne and infectious diseases are all on the rise.
ChildFund is hard at work providing hygiene kits and mosquito nets to protect children’s health amid the increasing risks, as well as school supplies and educational materials for children who have been affected by school closures. Please give as generously as you can to support children in crisis today.
