Samuel is a very young Brazilian boy who lives with his parents, Antonio and Cintia, and with two sisters, in a rural community in the interior of the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, rough cement flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Electricity is available. Water is carried from a well. Both the parents work as day laborers in agriculture when available and the family receives a very small family allowance from the federal government. Samuel is a cheerful and observant baby boy. He crawls all over the floor and stands on his feet with support for a little while. He takes bottles as well as solid foods like corn pap and vegetable soup. He likes playing with colorful and noisy toys. Samuel is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. He is still too young to attend school. The family is needy and through your support Samuel and his family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation, education and nutrition.
